2003
YEAR IN REVIEW
Wow!
Another year gone and we have accomplished so may things! And we
have had a great time in the process. As another year begins here
is a look back at the activities of 2003:
APRIL
12th - THE 8th ANNUAL CONSIGNMENT SALE
This
consignment sale was our best yet! Take a look at the crowd
of people who joined us!

MAY
10th -SPRING FIELD TRIP TO UNION MILLS
What
a great trip to Union Mills in Carroll County! The day was a bit
rainy but the spirits were high as the club members got to see a
mill in working order. Exactly what was needed to understand what
Roxbury Mill will one day look similar to. Afterward there was a
wonderful lunch at Bullock's Airport Inn! YUM!

JULY
12th and 13th- THE ANNUAL CUTTING OF THE WHEAT
Again
this year
the cutting of the wheat took place on the Howard Streaker Farm.
The wheat was cut and shocked with a team of mules then stacked
on the wagon by hand. Even with such a wet season, both days were
beautiful.

AUGUST
2nd - 9th - THE 58th ANNUAL HOWARD COUNTY FAIR
Another
great year at the Fair! Our displays are getting larger every year
and more and more people are stopping by to see us.

SEPTEMBER
6th - CLARK ELIOAK FARM FALL OPENING DAY
The
HCAFMC is pleased to associate with the Clark Elioak Farm and enjoyed
a beautiful day! HCAFMC provided a display and an antique car during
the event. The weather was wonderful and it was a great day for
families!

SEPTEMBER
21st - THE CLUB APPRECIATION PICNIC
As
in years past, the Sunday before the annual show has been spent
putting the final touches on the grounds and coming together for
food and fun. All family members and friends are always welcome
to attend. Everyone enjoys watching the !*%$@#*!^ Army tents go
up. We got pictures of this wonderful event this year!

SEPTEMBER
24th - 27th - THE FARM HERITAGE SCHOOL DAYS
As
the second graders from all over the county file off their school
buses, the club members jump into action. Although our show
was the week after Hurricane Isabel hit, and the Monday before the
school days we had a down pour of rain and very muddy conditions,
we had great weather and a great group of kid. Below are some of
the stations the kids visited.

SEPTEMBER
27th & 28th - THE 8th ANNUAL FARM HERITAGE DAYS
What
a spectacular weekend! The weather was again wonderful. Approximately
4,000 people enjoyed some time on the farm. Two small children from
Laurel and Fulton are thrilled at the new toys they won. And
when it was all over, when all of the work was completed and everything
was put away, we all breathed a little sigh if relief that all our
hard work paid off for another year.
OCTOBER
11th - FAMILY DAY at BLANDAIR FARM
Howard
County Parks and Recreation hosted a wonderful activity where families
could come and enjoy all that Blandair has to offer. The Howard
County Antique Farm Machinery Club provided a display with "Life
Before Electricity" and some equipment. It was an enjoyable
day.
OCTOBER
12th - FALL FIELD TRIP: PARLETTE
FARM FESTIVAL
Once
again the Parlette Family hosted a spectacular Farm Festival event.
They have a large display and it was very enjoyable to walk around
and see all they have collected. Another wonderful day spent with
the club members!
OCTOBER
26th - SUNDAY in the PARK - CENTENNIAL PARK
The
HCAFMC provided a display of equipment and "Life Before Electricity"
for all those enjoying Sunday in the Park. There were plenty of
family activities and it was a wonderful but chilly day.
Take
a look at our activities in years past!
