The Blacksmith was a very important member of the early American town. Blacksmiths created many of the tools needed for the farmer and tradesman, made shoes for horses and mules, created spikes for the Railroad, and many other implements. The Blacksmith Shop at the Living Farm Heritage Museum is a working shop; providing classes for those interested in learning the art of the Blacksmith. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes are available. Click the button for access to class schedule and registration through the Howard County Parks and Recreation event website.
Have you caught the blacksmithing bug? For anyone who’s taken our beginner or intermediate level blacksmithing classes and wants more time to work on self-paced projects, the Museum now provides open forge time.
